Long-distance taxi questions
- How is a long-distance taxi fare calculated?
- The fare is based on the actual driving distance and estimated time for your route, worked out when you book, plus the vehicle class you choose. You are shown the full fixed price before you confirm — it does not change with traffic or time of day, and there are no separate motorway or fuel supplements.
- Is there a maximum distance for a long-distance booking?
- No. XlineCars covers long-distance journeys anywhere in mainland Great Britain, including cross-country routes such as London to Manchester, the South Coast to Scotland, or airport-to-home trips of several hundred miles.
- Can I add stops to a long-distance journey?
- Yes. You can add extra pickups or drop-offs along the route when you book. The price is recalculated for the full journey including the detour, and you can reorder the stops before you confirm.
- Can I book a return long-distance trip?
- Yes. Choose the return option when booking and enter the return date and time. The outbound and return are quoted together as one fixed price.
- Will there be room for luggage on a long trip?
- Tell us how many passengers and bags you have and we only show vehicles that can carry them. For large or awkward items — golf clubs, skis, a wheelchair, prams — choose an MPV or minibus, or add a note when booking.
- How far in advance should I book a long-distance taxi?
- For a saloon on a common route a few hours' notice is usually fine. Book 24 hours or more ahead for early-morning departures, larger vehicles, wheelchair-accessible vehicles, child seats, or busy holiday periods.
